![]() ![]() Fixed loop sizes are not universal one size fits all hand sizes and for me was a head scratcher to get the appropriate cord length for the right sized loops for my hands. So would be nice to have more alternatives out there for the community! The only tutorials I could find were either the fixed loop sizes with just adjustable finger cinches with the most adjustable one being the simple granny knot + cow hitch knot ones that are the most used due to simplicity. orientate 1 cord into a loop shape but don't tie it up to make it a real loopĬlick to expand.NP! earlier when i was looking for tutorials there were not many choices. 2 pieces of paracord roughly 30" ea (can get away with shorter but longer is better for your first go This version is a truly one size fits all paracord sling.Īnyways this is a pretty long post for something as trivial as a finger sling but was pretty excited that I may have finally gotten it right. The idea using cobra knots is inspired by slingit customs but I like how not using a closed loop lets you fully adjust the size of the sling. ![]() #MAKING COBRA KNOTES FREE#If it does, this can be easily fixed by adding a paracord draw onto the free ends or tying a granny knot close where the ends exit the cobra knot for piece of mind. I will try using this over a longer period of time and see if the cobra knot over the adjustable end loosens over time. Using the cow hitch loop to cinch around the fingers, the weight of the bow is distributed between both the fixed end and the adjustable end of the loop and should not loosen. I did endure the cobra knots and end knots were cinched tight and this allowed the sling to be fully adjustable for different hand sizes with a pretty hard tug. ![]() Used 550 paracord and this time rather than tying cobra knots around a fixed loop, I tied it on a single piece of paracord but made finger loops after inserting each end out a few cobra knots. Went home again and tried to think of something that would be essentially the wiawis finger sling with a more comfortable cord. I think regular shoelaces would work better. They were definitely more comfortable but due to the width of the laces, the cowhitch knot won't stay snug against my finger and thumbs and kept getting loose. ![]() However I bought unwaxed hockey laces which are much wider thinking that it would be much more comfortable. It started bugging me again so this time I just tried to make a simple loop one that you can easily adjust the loop size via granny knot with a shoelace. And after countless tries of getting the "perfect sized loop" for my hands that didn't have too much or little slack around the bow, I gave up. My main gripe the slings I made with a fixed sized loop was that it was not always a good fit depending on different sized hands (varying slack between bow and hand). Later got inspired by seeing pictures of slingit customs finger slings and had a go at making my own that was similar. The one feature I really liked about it was that it was fully adjustable for size with the draw stopper. Originally bought a wiawis finger sling that worked okay but I didn't like the harder thin paracord it used. ![]()
